Mimosas and Mariposas.

My paintings are composed of paint and torn pieces of paper which forms vases filled with blooming flowers and various types birds and butterflies. I call my latest series, Mariposas and Mimosas. The vases, flowers, birds and butterflies in my work represent not only love and joy, but also a striving to reach higher, blooming over and over again each season.

My paintings border on surrealism relying heavily on symbolism, which is inspired by traditional Mexican textiles, folk art and Marc Chagall and other French Modernist painters. I love the way Marc Chagall’s paintings evoke a dream-like state, celebrating his life and loves through his vibrant use of color and beautiful figures. I seek to capture all the wonder of living through my colorful paintings. Flowers bloom, seasons change, life is a challenge, painting is a gift.
